Ravinia day 4 open rehearsal
Ravinia day 4 open rehearsal
A gorgeous day to begin. 600+ kids came to our open rehearsal this morning, including a group of boys that are dressed as Lincoln. They sang a Lincoln era song for us that they’ve been working on during the Q & A. We just showed what we worked on in the past two days, which is from the beginning through Mary Ann.
After lunch we pushed ahead to the next section which is Liberty. The piece wants to turn a corner at this point by addressing the larger ideas that would eventually lead to the war. Leah will dance a solo as Miss Liberty. Somehow the ingredients are not working together yet so we skipped to the Debates.
Postmortem meeting: One pressing issue is the set. We have not been able to use the curtains because of the string winds. Eric our technical director has been asked to stop the winds, but success there. Our first experiment was to cut slits in one of the panels to let the wind blow through. It helped a little but not enough. We are discussing various ways to weigh down the curtain.
Night: Janet, Robert and Crew worked on video and lights. The temperature dropped 30 degrees within a few minutes. We were all trembling at our laptops. Suffering for art again-;

FONDLY DO WE HOPE...FERVENTLY DO WE PRAY
